Mrs. Curline V. Christie

"An advocate for excellence" "a dedicated worker" "a people based personality" "a well-rounded team player" "Stern at the right time" are but few of the descriptions which aptly summarizes the personality of Curline V. Christie. Her proud roots are from Westmoreland, though most of her formative years were Kingston based.

Her advent to St Andrew Technical as a teacher of Home Economics followed her years of post-college service at Oberlin High School (1972-1976). Mrs. Christie was appointed Head of the Home Economics Department in 1983, served as Vice Principal 1995-1998 and rose to the rank of Acting Principal in 1998-2001 and has been appointed in this capacity since.

She is regarded as "an excellent educator" who seeks always to keep abreast of up-to-date educational practices in an effort to contribute effectively to the professional development of her teachers and overall management of St. Andrew Technical. One of her favourite expressions is "We must network..."

Several career-related associations in which she holds membership provide this "life-long learner" with ongoing professional enrichment. These include the:

    1. The Caribbean Home Economics Association
    2. The Jamaica Home Economic Association
    3. Jamaica Association of Secondary Schools Principals
    4. Technical High School Principals Association
    5. Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development (ASCD)
    6. The Reading Association of Jamaica
    7. STATHS Torchbearers Toast Masters' Club

Mrs. Christie is a strong advocate for family and she enjoys enviable support in her endeavors from a closely knit family circle - Keith her husband of twenty-seven (27) years, son Mark, daughter Judith, her father, nine (9) sisters and (1) brother. Her winsome personality os contagious resulting in a host of extended family and friends. She could easily be named "Caring Christie" because her life is one of caring and sharing - a byproduct of the rich spiritual life which she enjoys. It is not unusual therefore, that her philosophy of life may be summed up as being "Living for others makes a difference."

As principal of St. Andrew Technical High School she offers invaluable service to the school community and participates actively in the school's community outreach projects. Coupled with her love for Home Economics and Fashion Designing is her passion for sports; her strongest passion is football.

One often wonders if Mrs. Christie finds time for herself. Yes, she does. And what does she do? She reads and reads and reads! Everything, anything, everywhere. All the time!

She is currently reading for her Doctoral at Nova Southeastern.

We wish her all the best in her quest for excellence and a life of devoted service.
